GC Backup Launcher for Wii by WiiGator
######################################

Package name: GCBackup

What it does
############

You can start GameCube backups on Wii. There is no hardware change required.
This is only software. There is only DVD-R directly supported. DVD+R need to
be patched to booktype DVD-ROM.

Installation Guide:
###################

1. Copy directories "miospatcher" and "rungcbackup" to your SD card into the "apps" directory.
2. If you don't have a internet connnection with your Wii. You need to copy only one MIOS version to the SD card.
3. Put SD card into the front slot of your Wii.
4. Start Homebrew Channel
5. Run MIOS Patcher and press A (GC controller).
6. Insert your GameCube disc.
7. Run GC Backup Launcher and press A to start game (GC controller).

Note: If you want to start a game from the Wii disc channel, you need to enable
support for Wii Backup Launcher by pressing in step 5. You can use rebooter
from the Wii Backup Launcher to test it.

Compatibilty
############

Some games are not working. Games with audio streaming are working. Some games
can't be started, because the audio is stopped to fast and the game goes back
to the previous menu.
Memory saves are now stored correctly.
You get the highest compatibilty if you start it from the Wii disc channel and
press B at the startup screen.

How it works
############

MIOS is patched to allow starting of homebrew. It is also patched to leave
DVD-R support enabled.
The rungcbackup.dol copies the gcbackuplauncher to memory and changes to
GameCube mode.
gcbackuplauncher patches the DVD read functions in memory, so reading is
possible.

System requirements:
####################

IOS249 with backup support need to be installed (e.g. my cIOS r7 from
backuplauncher 0.3 gamma).

Additional Information:
#######################

If installation fails with error -1017. It will try to delete MIOS and install it after (files are already downloaded at this point). Deletion will only work with a custom IOS249. So if you get error -1017, you need to install IOS249.

Note 1: Changing to GameCube mode is sometimes not working. Turn off Wii and
on again and retry, if screen looks strange.
Note 2: Starting with patched MIOS enables MIOS to load the game. Some games
are not working with this method. Other games will only work with this
	method.
Note 3: DVD speed is still limited to 3x.
Note 4: There are sometimes problems with the DVD read speed. So there is
sometimes a very short delay in a few games. The game play is only barely
	influenced.
Note 5: If patching of DVD read function fails, the game will still be started.
If the game accesses the DVD, there will be an error.
Note 6: On read error there will be 30 read retries. I don't know if this
works, because I don't have such read problems with my DVD-R brand.
Note 7: If you eject the disc and started it with button A, no disc can be
detected after it. This is only working if you use button B to start.
Note 8: If Wii Backup Launcher Support is activated in MIOS, the Wii Backup
Launcher can start the game. It is also possible to start the game from
the disc channel, if the rebooter is used.
Note 9: Multigame discs can be created with "GCOS MultiGame Creator V4F.exe".
Note 10: It supports DVD9 offsets.
Note 11: Dual Layer DVDs should work. I don't have tested it.
Note 12: When you have both discs of a game burned within one multigame ISO
image, you can switch the disc by ejecting and reinserting the disc. But
you need first to select the second disc with button Z on the startup
screen (green GC logo). This is only working if you started the game with
	the B button.
Note 13: The video mode is not patched if you press B.
Note 14: The power off button will reset the system. It will work, when you
start the game from the disc channel.
Note 15: You need a GameCube controller to play games
Note 16: To save a game you need a GameCube memory card
Note 17: Switching between different regions may destroy the data on your
	memory card.
Note 18: Modchips are not supported by this Software.
Note 19: This Software runs only on Wii and not on the GameCube.
Note 20: This Software is started in Wii mode and switches to GameCube mode.
Note 21: When you start an original game and included the Wii Backup Launcher
support, you will see the GC Backup Launcher screen and a read error.
	The game will start normally.
