PwnageTool is a Mac OS X application made by the iPhone Dev Team.

It allows you to create a custom IPSW (iPod/iPhone Software) file that you can use to upgrade your iPod/iPhone with. It removes baseband upgrades from the official software files and modifies the file system. Removing the baseband allows you to keep your phone unlocked, because newer basebands are not vulnerable to the same exploits used in old versions of unlocks.

See the change-log for supported devices, and the discussion post for more information.

Don't forget to to let Cydia cache your SHSHs so you can downgrade! Check http://www.saurik.com/id/12 for more information.

Change log (5.1.1):
Supports iOS 5.1.1 on every device that supports it, except for those with A5(X) processors.

This release also has support for iOS 5.0.1 on the Apple TV 2G, but all that will be added by default is SSH access.
