       pr - convert text files for printing

       pprr [_O_P_T_I_O_N]... [_F_I_L_E]...

DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
       Paginate or columnate FILE(s) for printing.

       Mandatory  arguments  to  long  options are mandatory
       for short options too.

       +FIRST_PAGE[:LAST_PAGE],
       ----ppaaggeess=_F_I_R_S_T___P_A_G_E_[:LAST_PAGE]
              begin [stop] printing with page FIRST_[LAST_]PAGE

       --CCOOLLUUMMNN,
       ----ccoolluummnnss=_C_O_L_U_M_N
              output COLUMN columns and print columns down,
              unless --aa is used.  Balance number of lines
              in the columns on each page.

       --aa, ----aaccrroossss
              print  columns across rather than down, used
              together with --CCOOLL‐‐ UUMMNN

       --cc,
       ----sshhooww--ccoonnttrrooll--cchhaarrss
              use hat notation (^G) and octal backslash
              notation

              double space the output

              page header, --hh  "" prints a blank line,

              replace spaces with CHARs (TABs) to tab WIDTH (8)

              sets separators

       --ll PAGE_LENGTH,

              set the page length to PAGE_LENGTH (66) lines
              (default number of lines of text 56, and with
              --FF 63)

              print all files in parallel, one in each column,
              truncate lines, but join lines of full length
              with --JJ

              number lines, use DIGITS (5) digits,  then  SEP
              (TAB),  default counting starts with 1st line

              start  counting  with  NUMBER  at 1st line of

              do not affect --ww  or --WW, MARGIN will
              be added to PAGE_WIDTH

              separate  columns by a single character,
              default for CHAR is the <TAB> character
              without --ww and 'no char' with --ww

              line  truncation  of all 3 column options
              (--CCOOLLUUMMNN|-a --CCOOLL‐‐
              UUMMNN|-m) except --ww is set

       --SSSSTTRRIINNGG,

              separate columns by STRING, without --SS:
              Default separator  <TAB> with --JJ and <space>
              otherwise (same as --SS" "), no effect on
              col‐ umn options

              omit page headers and trailers

       --TT,
       ----oommiitt--ppaaggiinnaattiioonn
              omit page headers and trailers, eliminate any
              pagination by form feeds set in input files

       --vv,

              use octal backslash notation

       --ww PAGE_WIDTH,

              set  page  width  to  PAGE_WIDTH  (72)
              characters  for multiple text-column output only,
              --ss[[cchhaarr]] turns off (72)

       --WW PAGE_WIDTH,

              set page width to PAGE_WIDTH (72)  characters
              always,  truncate lines, except --JJ option
              is set, no interference with --SS or --ss

       ----hheellpp display this help and exit

       ----vveerrssiioonn
              output version information and exit

       --TT  implied  by  --ll  nn when nn <= 10 or <=
       3 with --FF. With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read
       standard input.
