DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
The eessddssaammppllee utility plays a sample
using the Enlighted Sound Daemon (eessdd).

OOPPTTIIOONNSS
       The following options are supported:

       --ss _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e:_p_o_r_tContact
       the eessdd server on _h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e
       at _p_o_r_t.

--bb Specify that the output should
       be in 8-bit format. By
default, the output is in 16-bit format.

--dd Play the sample from file as
       raw data. The default
behavior is to read the data from a
                       sound file (..wwaavv, ..aauu,
and so on). If this option is chosen,
                       _s_a_m_p_l_e_n_a_m_e is the
                       name of a file.

--ee Play the sample from the eessdd
       cache. If this option is
                       chosen, _s_a_m_p_l_e_n_a_m_e
is the name of the sample in the
                       cache.

--hh Display help text, and exit.

--mm Specify that the output should
       be in mono format. By
default, the output is in stereo format.

--rr _f_r_e_q Specify that the output
rate should be set to _f_r_e_q. By
default, the output rate is set to
                       44.1 kHz.

OOPPEERRAANNDDSS
       The following operands are supported:

       _s_a_m_p_l_e_n_a_m_e The name of the
sample to be played. If the -ee option
                       is used, _s_a_m_p_l_e_n_a_m_e
                       is the eessdd
                       cache name. Otherwise,
                       _s_a_m_p_l_e_n_a_m_e is
                       a filename.
