PATCHES:
The patches in this archive are solar sensor patches. They allow you
to play the Boktai or Bokura no Taiyou games without a solar sensor,
so that they can be played on a flash card or emulator that doesn't
support it. The retail cartridges have a solar sensor built in,
which affects many things in the game. Sunlight is crucial to
playing the games; without sunlight, you cannot recharge your energy
and thus cannot use a large part of your weaponry. Some puzzles are
also impossible to do without sunlight.

There were solar sensor patches for all three games already, but
some of them (the patch for the third game in particular) had some
faults like inconvenient button activators or a continuous
increase/decrease of sunlight instead of one bar at a time. I took
those patches and improved on them a little in order to make them
a bit easier to use in combination with in-game functions.

CHANGES:
Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hands (E):
Nothing wrong with the original patch, it was great! All I did was
change the button activator from just L to L+R so you can use
Grenades in the heat of battle without messing up the sunlight
settings. Unfortunately, this game has two pause menus for both
Start and Select so I decided to use L+R. To increase/decrease
sunlight without using your Grenades, pause the game with Start
  first.

Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django (E):
Button activator changed from R to Select. Also modified the patch
a bit to increase/decrease by only one bar per button press, and to
update the SUN gauge when changing weapons.

Shin Bokura no Taiyou: Gyakushuu no Sabata (J):
AKA Boktai 3: Sabata's Counterattack. There were two solar sensor
patches for this one, but they both sucked; one didn't show
Skylights or add Soll to the Solar Station, and the other didn't
work during bike race segments. I made a new one from scratch that
does all of that right. It uses Select as a button activator and
increases/decreases a single bar per button press.

HOW TO USE:
The button activators are as follows:

  Boktai 1:
  L + R + Left = Decrease sunlight
  L + R + Right = Increase sunlight

  Boktai 2:
Select + Left = Decrease sunlight
Select + Right = Increase sunlight

  Boktai 3:
Select + Left = Decrease sunlight
Select + Right = Increase sunlight

HOW TO PATCH:
Drag and drop the IPS file corresponding to your game version on the
Lunar IPS executable (Windows users only). Then, select your ROM and
wait while the program patches it. Afterwards, you can delete the
  IPS file.

  For VisualBoy Advance users:
If you do not want to patch your ROM, you can rename the IPS file to
match the name of your ROM. For example, if your ROM is named
Boktai.gba, you would name the patch Boktai.ips.

CLEAN ROMS:
These patches were made for and tested on clean ROMs. While the
chances are slim, due to the nature of the patches (they have all
have a custom routine in free space) it's possible they might
overwrite, or be overwritten by other hacks or patches. The extra
routines for Boktai 2 and 3 are at the very end of the ROM in an
effort to avoid this, but it's always possible. It will work with
the English fan translation of Boktai 3 at least.

For Boktai 3, make sure the ROM you are using has not been patched
with a different solar sensor patch already as there are two other
patches that might differ slightly from the one in this archive.
