1. General questions

What services does Filetrip offer? I'm confused
Filetrip offers mainly two services: public file hosting, and private file hosting. We allow users to add files to public categories such as PC downloads, NDS downloads and all the categories you can see at the top of the page. Additionally, we also offer private file hosting: you can upload any file you like. We offer a great deal of features for your uploaded files: you can preview them online (that works for videos, music, pictures and even documents), you can create galleries, upload files via FTP and a lot more.

How do I upload a file to one of the public categories?
On the top right corner of the page you will find a "Submit File" link. You will be guided through a few steps: selecting the category, entering file details and uploading the file. Once you completed the upload, the file becomes publicly available without wait times.

How to I upload a private file to my account?
On the top right corner of the page you will find a big orange "Upload" button. Click it to be taken to the Upload form. Our upload script supports multiple file uploads as well as drag and drop!

Can I use HTML or BBCode in the file descriptions?
HTML is not allowed, but a few bbcode tags are: [B], [I], [S] and [U], as well as regular emoticons. As for links, you can simply paste a URL and it will automatically be transformed into a link.

I reported a file or sent a suggestion, but nothing happened?
There are two situations. If you are a registered user and were logged in when you sent your report, use the My Requests page to follow the status and get possible answers from moderators. If you are not registered however, you will not be able to find out what happened to your requests. Also, please allow at least 24 hours for your requests to be handled.

I have another question...
Feel free to contact us by using the link at the bottom of this page.

2. File Uploads

Will you or anyone go through my uploaded files?
No, the Filetrip staff will not browse through your uploaded files. Your files are securely uploaded and no one will check what you've got in your personal folder. However if we receive reports that you uploaded files that go against our Terms and Conditions of use, such files will be promptly removed.

What is the maximum file size for my uploads?
The current maximum file size is 4 gigabytes for both private and public uploads.

How do I upload files via FTP?
If you want to upload files to your personal account via FTP, please read this short guide. For submitting files to our public categories FTP is not available.

I logged in to my FTP account, but I can't download a file, delete a file or even create a folder!
We provide FTP access solely for file uploads. All other operations must be done from the My Uploads page.

I uploaded a file via FTP, how do I retrieve it?
If you want to upload files to your personal account via FTP, please read this short guide. Make sure to complete all the steps.

I uploaded a file via FTP and didn't import it into my account. Now, it's gone!
Files imported by FTP should be imported into your account as soon as possible (from the My Uploads page). If you do not import them, they will be removed during server moves. We regularly have to transfer files around from one server to another; files that aren't associated to any account are lost during such transfer operations.

I am logged in via Facebook, can I still upload files via FTP?
Due to the way Facebook authentication is handled, it is currently impossible to upload files via FTP without an actual Filetrip account. You must create a new Filetrip account to be able to use FTP.

3. Login and access

I've lost my password. How do I reset it?
You can reset your password by using this simple process.

I already have an account on GBAtemp. Do I need to create a new one?
Yes, you need to create a new account. FileTrip and GBAtemp do not share user bases.

4. Embedding, sharing, galleries

How do I create a photo/video gallery?
First, register an account on Filetrip or login via Facebook. Then, proceed to the Upload page (click the big orange button at the top right corner of the page). Select multiple photos and/or videos to upload. When the upload is complete, you will be presented with an option to create a gallery.

How do I embed my uploaded video/photo/media?
After uploading your file, try viewing it online using the links given by Filetrip. If it can be viewed online then it can also be embedded, so there should be an Embed link at the top of the page.

What do the , , and icons mean in the 'Visible' column on the My Uploads page?
- If your file has a in the Visible column, it means your file can be viewed by everyone and found on search engines such as Google.
- If your file has a in the Visible column, it means nobody can see your file except people who receive the link from you.
- If your file has a in the Visible column, it means your file cannot be viewed by anyone except you (you must be logged in to your account).

Am I allowed to upload and share content under copyright (eg. movie rips, ROMs, music, ...) ?
You are allowed to upload such files for private use, for example for backup purposes. However, as soon as you decide to make files public or share the files to external users, you endanger the site as a whole. As such our moderators will promptly remove any illicit file and you will receive a file takedown notification.
